Gunman Contracts - Stand Alone is a single-player action shooter by solo developer ANB_Seth, published by 2080 Games, that plays in VR or on a flat screen. It launched in Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026 at $24.99, four years after the developer's free Half-Life: Alyx mods of the same name drew more than 470,000 Workshop subscribers between them. The launch build has 3 connected story contracts (Outpost, War-House and Dinner Out), a home base called The Hive, two challenge modes on 5 maps, 18 unlockable weapons and 27 Steam achievements. It is Steam Deck Verified, and there is no standalone Quest version.

Pick a mode. Choose VR or Non-VR from Steam's launch options; the VR vs Non-VR guide covers both.
Answer the phone. The call in the subway gives you the smartphone and the elevator down to The Hive.
Buy your first pistols. Spend the handler's starting credits at the loadout terminal, holster the pair at your hips and fit the suppressor.
Run every course. Including the pop-up target circle, or the contract terminal stays locked (the most common first-hour snag).
Start Contract 01, Outpost. Take the five outside patrols quietly first; the Outpost walkthrough covers the 40-second escape.

Is Gunman Contracts the Half-Life: Alyx mod?

It grew out of it. ANB_Seth's free Half-Life: Alyx mods, Chapter 1: The Extraction and Chapter 2: Art of War, are still on the Steam Workshop. Stand Alone is a separate paid game rebuilt from scratch in Unity, and you do not need Half-Life: Alyx to play it.

Is Gunman Contracts on Quest 3?

Not as a standalone Quest app. It is a PC VR game on Steam, so Quest 3, 3S and 2 owners play it from a Windows PC over Link, Air Link, Virtual Desktop or Steam Link.
